St. Dominic Savio Rural School opens Granja Agropedagogica at FSSP Colombia

Caring for the animals and harvesting – all in a school day.
In the spirit of nurturing, growth, and faith, FSSP Colombia joyously announces the unveiling of a new pedagogical farm, Granja Agropedagogica at St. Dominic Savio Rural School.
A pedagogical farm, like our Granja Agropedagogica, is a powerful learning tool where education meets the hands of our hard-working students. Here in the heart of St. Dominic Savio Rural School, our students learn practical aspects in agriculture, cultivating crops and caring for farm animals—in essence, it is a classroom under the open sky. This direct, hands-on experience, combined with the lessons of faith and solidarity, helps our students appreciate, at a profound level, the precious gift of nature and our collective responsibility to nurture and protect it. Just like our faith, it’s more than a lesson—it’s a way of life.
As we embrace this new venture, we’re echoing our commitment to enhance our agricultural curriculum and foster a culture where education is rooted in hands-on experience.
Our devoted students have wholeheartedly embarked on their journey. Unfurling their wings in developing pedagogical processes through new agricultural production systems, they’re cultivating compassion, responsibility, and understanding via projects raising and caring for rabbits, pigs, chickens, fish, and bountiful produce.
What better location to sow these seeds of knowledge than Anolaima?

Students learn sustainable agriculture techniques
Noted as the ‘Fruit Capital of Colombia,’ the town exemplifies the divine glory of Creation in its abundant production of various fruits. Here, students are immersed in the soil of learning, witnessing God’s blessings blossoming into edible miracles.
Pedagogical farms like ours offer a world of benefits. They provide an avenue in which students walk hand-in-hand with nature, fostering an understanding and appreciation of agriculture, food production, and sustainable farming practices.
By gently nudging our students onto this path, we’re not just preserving age-old local traditions and boosting rural development, but also fostering direct communion with nature.
As we traverse this exciting new chapter, we’re mindful of the challenges lying in wait. Yet, our faith in the divine and the capacity of each heart to love and nurture provides courage to us all.
Driven by faith, the bonds we nurture with God’s creations can bring transformative change. We invite you to stand with us in this mission and help give our students the tools they need to sow the seeds for a kinder and more understanding world.
