Transforming Lives in Nigeria
Your Donations Build a Convent and Girls’ School
May 2025 Update
In Nigeria, where poverty, inflation, and unrest cast long shadows, your generous donations to Mission Tradition are lighting the way for a brighter future. Led by Fr. Angelo Van der Putten, FSSP, our apostolate is building a convent and girls’ school, a testament to faith, education, and community resilience. We are thrilled to share the progress made possible by your charity and to invite you to continue this sacred journey with us.
A Foundation Built on Faith and Generosity

Clearing the land where the convent and girls’ school will be built.
Since November 2024, the “Sisters Land” project has transformed from an overgrown plot into a hub of hope. Your donations have funded the purchase of two and a half acres, 7,000 cement blocks, and a 30-foot water tower providing clean water—a critical need in a region where typhoid is a constant threat.
By April 2025, our dedicated local workforce, alongside the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate, had laid the foundation, poured the damp-proof course, and begun electrical and plumbing installations. The convent’s footprint is now clear, with the girls’ school and boarding facilities soon to follow.
A generous U.S. benefactor jumpstarted this project, but ongoing support is vital as costs soar—cement prices have tripled due to Nigeria’s economic crisis. Your almsgiving is not just building structures; it’s creating a sanctuary where young girls will receive a Catholic education rooted in “the true, the good, and the beautiful.”
The Impact of Your Support

The school, already serving 38 boys and girls, is changing lives. Parents report remarkable growth in their children’s discipline and literacy, with some sixth-graders learning to read in just three months. The convent will house the Sisters, who will mentor boarding students, fostering spiritual and academic growth. Clean water from the new borehole and tanks will serve both the school and local community, reducing health risks and supporting daily needs.Fr. Van der Putten reflects, “We do this for the love of God. Without our Mission Tradition donors, we would literally starve.” Your gifts sustain not only construction but also daily necessities, as Sunday collections yield just $35 against monthly food costs of $800–$1,000.
Join Us in Building Hope
We are on track to complete the convent by September 2025, but we need your continued support to build the girls’ school. Every donation brings us closer to empowering Nigeria’s youth with education, faith, and opportunity.
